London Chamber Applauds Approval of HART Hub: A Win for Community Well-Being and Local Business
The London Chamber of Commerce is pleased to see the City of London approved by the Ontario Government for a Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hub. This significant development is a vital step toward addressing the pressing needs of individuals in our community struggling with mental health and addiction—challenges that also have a direct impact on the local business environment.
The centralized HART Hub, led by CMHA Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services, will provide 60 beds and an equivalent number of supportive housing beds outside the Hub. This comprehensive approach to care and recovery will not only support vulnerable residents but also foster a safer, healthier community, which is essential for attracting and retaining businesses, employees, and customers.
“This initiative demonstrates what can be achieved when we work collaboratively as a community to tackle complex issues like homelessness and addiction,” said Kristen Duever, COO of the London Chamber of Commerce. “A healthier community benefits everyone, including the business sector, by creating a stable environment where businesses can thrive and residents can prosper.”
The Chamber recognizes the vital role this HART Hub will play in improving local quality of life and enhancing London’s reputation as a forward-thinking city committed to both community well-being and economic vitality.
