AODA Compliance Report Deadline Approaching

This is a reminder that the deadline to submit your Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act Compliance report is December 31, 2023. This report must be completed if you are a business or nonprofit organization with over 20 employees. It is important that all businesses remain accessible for all people and that there are no barriers for individuals with disabilities. Ensuring that your business is compliant with the AODA will help businesses be more welcoming for all individuals in the province. Not only will this allow customers and guests to use your space, it will also allow new employment opportunities and the ability to tap into an excellent source of talent. The tools used to make your business more accessible are often low cost or even free and can lead to gains in productivity and profitability. There are over 2.6 million people in Ontario living with disabilities and this number will continue to grow as the population expands. When your business is accessible to these individuals, it makes your business much more likely to receive support and attention from people with disabilities. A 2018 study in the US by Accenture shows that companies that champion accessibility will, on average, have 28% higher revenue, double the net income, and 30% higher profit margins over a four year period when compared with other companies (https://www.accenture.com/content/dam/accenture/final/a-com-migration/pdf/pdf-89/accenture-disability-inclusion-research-report.pdf).
