In the spirit of truth and reconciliation, Nokee Kwe, the London Chamber of Commerce, the City of London and Libro Credit Union have come together to create the First Employ Project.
This Indigenous-led initiative is focused on leveraging the strengths of Indigenous Peoples and fostering inclusive economic growth. The business community has obligations under Call to Action 92 from the Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. This project is designed to assist businesses meet those obligations by laying out clear, actionable steps towards meaningful economic reconciliation.
A key component of the First Employ Project is this "Ask the Experts” Seminar. The speakers will offer clear, actionable steps towards meaningful economic reconciliation.
For example, how can businesses:
1. Enhance hiring norms and promote culturally safe work environments?
2. Align their operations with the principles of equity, respect, and partnership?
3. Enhance employment prospects for Indigenous individuals?
4. Promote dialogue between Indigenous community members and business leaders on economic reconciliation and inclusivity within the workplace?
The First Employ Project seeks to evaluate businesses' reconciliation efforts and develop custom resources. Our panel will explore the challenges and opportunities that this endeavor presents, offering actionable advice for local businesses keen on making meaningful progress.
