London Chamber Joins National Call for Labour Stability at Canada’s West Coast Ports

The London Chamber of Commerce has joined chambers of commerce, boards of trade, and business associations from across Canada in signing a joint letter urging the federal government to take swift action to ensure long-term labour stability at Canada’s West Coast ports.
The letter, addressed to Hon. Patty Hajdu, Minister of Jobs and Families, and Hon. John Zerucelli, Secretary of State for Labour, calls for the establishment of a B.C.-wide geographic certification to promote more sustainable labour relations and prevent future disruptions to Canada’s supply chain.

Young entrepreneur loans: Ontario is investing $2 million in Futurpreneur Canada to help 320 Ontario entrepreneurs (ages 18?39) start businesses
- Futurpreneur provides startup loans (up to $60k) paired with mentoring. This new funding builds on past support (Ontario has committed ~$9M since 2021) and aims to spur youth-led startups across the province
- Interested applicants can apply directly through Futurpreneur’s website. The process includes submitting a business plan and connecting with advisors who will guide them through the application.

The Business Cares Food Drive runs Nov 27?Dec 19 to support the London & Area Food Bank — demand rose 2% this year. Last year London businesses collected 683,000 lbs of food. Key events: 40 Grocery Store volunteer weekend (Nov 29?30), plus partner events (Tampon Tuesday, Golfers Care, London Knights).
How to help
- Host a workplace drive (drop off at the Agriplex warehouse or arrange pickup).
- Donate cash — cheques $20+ eligible for a tax receipt (payable to “London Food Bank/Business Cares Food Drive”). Mail to: London Food Bank/Business Cares Food Drive, c/o 186 Albert Street, Suite 205, London ON.
